HIS EVALUATION OF OTHER ARTISTS

Ahmet Haşim (1885-1933)

"One day Ahmet Haşim told me, 'avoid and be afraid of repeating yourself'. I understand this fear in Haşim. He may fall into this kind of fear and tell me to avoid this state not because he really repeats himself but because of the fact that the thing he repeats, i.e., himself and the main feature of his poetry, is not worth repeating and when it is repeated it loses its gloss. But I think, for us-those who want to be dialectical materialist and realist authors-this kind of fear bears no likelihood."
